Details

With the freeware version of Visionaire Studio: you can do everything, that you can do with the paid versions; minus the ability to compile & export the game executable. To be able to play your game via the freeware version you would need to distribute your entire project; resource files & all & the player would need to have Visionaire Studio installed to be able to play your game. You are not allowed to distribute your project files & resources for money while using this version. Anything you make in the freeware version will work in the paid versions.


Details v2 (draft)

The Freeware version of Visionaire Studio is for making non-profit games such as fan games or for educational purposes; people studying game development in university etc. Games made with the Freeware version must not be sold! If you are making a non-profit game for a third party publisher/individual or for advertising purposes then you will be required to purchase the necessary commercial licenses based on your budget & or needs.

Details

The Indie Limited License grants you, the user, limited rights to develop & digitally distribute as many titles as you like for the specified platforms for a maximum retail value of €10; or the equivalent sum, in any other currency.

This license is valid between .x versions (for example: v3.0 to v3.9; you need to renew your license at v4.0)

Perks

Loyal Customer Discount Scheme: Repeat customers are entitled to 25% off of the initial platform fee.
Dev Support: Technical support may be provided by one of our Developers; if applicable. (platform export/porting, debugging etc)
Included Licenses: Indie Basic License is included with all budget based licenses.
Developer Builds: Commercial License holders are entitled to the latest (stable) developer builds of Visionaire Studio; as & when they are available.
Re-Branding: The Visionaire Studio Team can embed a custom icon & details into the game executable. You need to provide a png file for your game icon at 1024x1024px & various information such as game name (per available languages), company name & contact details such as: website & email address etc.

Platform Targets Currently Available: Windows, Apple Mac, Linux. (iOS is in development, then hopefully android & linux)
Editor Currently Available For: Windows (apple mac is in development)


Compiled Game Executable

Quick note regarding the playable generic executable files you can compile via the Visionaire Studio Editor: the game executable you export may or may not meet the required standards for certain distribution platforms & services such as the Steam or Apple/Mac App stores. You may need to have a custom build done of your game & thus: you should contact us at least 2-3 months before your planned release date to see whether or not you need us to create a custom build for you or not.


Funding Solutions

Crowdfunding: funding solutions such as kickstarter & indiegogo are allowed to be used for funding your indie & commercial games. Having said that; if you raise €50k or over, then we consider you a commercial developer & would appreciate it, if you wouldn't mind purchasing whatever commercial licenses you may require - to show us a little support. This is of course completely up to you, but we hold high hopes in our - err... - hearts & minds, that you aren't all miserable stingy bugrits!


Misc Info

Please note that you will need to purchase the necessary commercial licenses if you are: wanting to release your game as a physical product in stores, sell your game for more than €15; digital or physical, are making your game for advertising purposes & or are being funded by a publisher, company or individual that has nothing to do with you or your own company etc.

Please note that the Visionaire Studio Licenses are only for Visionaire Studio itself & do not give you the right to distribute copyrighted materials, resources & media formats etc of which you don't have the permission or license for. i.e: if you want to use .mp3 for your audio, then you need to acquire a license from wherever it is; it's all a bit complicated. To avoid having to purchase additional licenses: we recommend using .ogg (vorbis) for your audio & .mkv (matroska) with VP8 WebM codec for your videos as they are both free to use commercially.
